Mena House, Cairo

Mena House is the place to stay if you’re looking for iconic views of the pyramids, being situated less than a kilometer from these ancient structures at Giza.  The hotel has lovely gardens and a pool, and the décor is traditionally Egyptian and rich.  A historic property, the walls are lined with old photos of the property and surrounding area.  Rooms are a little outdated, and indeed the palace wing of the hotel is currently under reconstruction.  The hotel obviously could not be better located for touring the pyramids (you can actually walk to them!), and a city tour of Cairo is also accessible from the property.
