Nazareth
The cradle of Christianity, the home of Jesus, is a city brimming with historical significance and holy churches, including the sacred Church of the Annunciation.
The Church has a long history dating back to the fourth century when a shrine and alter were built in the cave in which Mary had lived. Today’s basilica was designed by the Italian architect Giovanni Muzio, a leading proponent of the Novocento style. The modern church is actually two churches with a second structure erected over the important archeological remains of the earlier Byzantine church and the holy grotto itself.
Today Nazareth is a vibrant Arab town with a busy market and an up and coming Middle Eastern gastro scene. Socially complex, this is also a fascinating place to dig a bit deeper into the situation of Christian Arabs.
The sacred sites were our number one priority and the ones you picked for us facilitated deep personal experiences for us.
