The level of detail here is awe-inspiring, from its sensational tilework to the intricate zouak (painted wood) ceilings. Comprised of four courtyards, crammed full of mosaics, beautiful gardens, vibrant colours and ornate fountains, the Grand Courtyard (Cour d’Honneur) is a highlight with its extraordinary Italian Carrara marble floor and central fountain, reflecting the grandeur of the occasions that took place here. The palace is also home to the harem quarters, ornate accommodations and reception rooms that once belonged to the women of the court. Its exquisite tree-filled gardens are the perfect end to the visit, an oasis of green and scented flowers.
