Touring the Middle East is fascinating and intense and at the end of your tour you may well find your head whirling with questions and images – we highly recommend taking a few days to absorb and reflect on the wonders you will have seen! Here are some of our top tips for well deserved post tour rest & relaxation, including places you may not have considered!
CYPRUS: Although technically Europe and not the Middle East, Cyprus is literally a hop and a jump from Israel and Jordan with a flight time of one hour or less, and offering some fabulous resorts for simply soaking up the sun. We recently visited the new resort of Amara which is easily accessed from either Larnaca or Paphos airports, and offers a sophisticated, clean, modern design and absolutely stunning infinity pool pouring its waters into the Mediterranean Sea. The hotel is full service but boutique compared to some of the larger offerings in Cyprus, and although it offers a more adult oriented vibe, you will also find plenty of families taking advantage of the the excellent kids club and facilities, including a creche for those under 4 years old, and activities for kids aged 4-12. Further hotels to consider are Columbia Beach Resort which has a slightly more rustic feel but a truly wonderful atmosphere and excellent food, and Anassa which is the island’s classically luxurious resort.
SHARM EL SHEIK: Egypt’s Sharm El Sheik offers excellent options for total relaxation and can be easily accessed post your Egypt tour, or alternatively from Amman or Tel Aviv. The Four Seasons has recently been renovated and is truly best in class, while kids will love the Rixos resort with its flamboyant water slides and more. Look out for our full review of Sharm resorts coming later this year …
ISRAEL: At Israel’s Southern tip you will find Shacharut and the Six Senses hotel which can be easily accessed following your Israel tour, or following your Jordan tour if finishing in the South of the country with Petra/ Wadi Rum. The desert resort is truly magnificent and comes highly recommended for the peace of the desert and a special atmosphere which allows the mind to wander. Note the resort is for adults or families with older kids only.
JORDAN: The Kempinski Dead Sea is our preferred spot to chill at the end of a Jordanian tour, offering one of the largest spas in the Middle East and the special feeling brought on by inhaling those good for you Dead Sea vapors.
